Indian passports come at a high price

As petrol, gold and all things valuable become more expensive in India, so does the price of our identity. The normal passport fee has been raised by Rs 500 to make it Rs 1,500 now.

The fast track ‘Tatkal’ service is up by Rs 1000 which totals the cost to Rs 3,500. The revised fee for regular applications for Non Resident Indians is USD 75 and euro 60.

Earlier it was USD 40 and euro 48. The new price hike is effective from October 1 2012.

To aid passport services, the government introduced the Passport Seva Kendra (PSK) sometime back.

Applicants are requested to contact the PSK office that falls under their jurisdiction belt.

Applications are available online through the website.
